Hey! Welcome to the Calgary Improv Festival, brought to you by The Improv Guild.

You may be wondering: What's the deal with this festival and why does it even exist? Well, first of all, improv is awesome! That's right, you heard us. We love performing improv, talking about improv, improvising long walks on the beach… And we want to celebrate this form of theatre with as many people as possible. So we decided to create a festival. What better way to share the awesomeness with everybody in this great city? Plus, we want to build the improv community in this city and bring all the great artists together in one place.

So, we're going to showcase the best improv that Calgary has to offer as well as bring in some special guests from Winnipeg and Vancouver. And this is just the first year. We want this baby to grow like bamboo. Next year this thing will bring together improvisers from all over the country, and eventually the world!

This year we're going to present all sorts of improv. We've got competitive formats, long form, short form and family friendly Kidprov coming your way all in three days! We're even going to hold an open workshop where you, yes you, can try improv on for size.
