Calgary Young People's Theatre prides itself on providing
numerous development opportunities to young people to explore the
performing arts and develop their creativity and team work skill.
Since 1999, Dirty Laundry has kept Calgary audiences
in stitches with its brand of improvised comedy and weekly cliffhangers.
Each episode keeps the audience coming back to find out what happens
next on their 'soap'. And at Dirty Laundry, the characters find
out at the same time as the audience, because it's completely improvised.
The Curiously Canadian Improv Guild was formed by
4 actors in the fall of 2004. Rick Hilton, Dave Duncan, Ken Gardener
and Rob Mitchelson.
They are a non profit theatre society operating as
an actor's co-op. Their goal is simple: present improvisational
theatre and provide a social outlet for the members to have fun
and share views on improv.
They started at the SAIT Orpheus theatre and then
moved to play one winter season at the Uptown. From there it was
2 1/2 years of late night comedy on the Plaza stage in Kensington.
During this time the Guild also presented hundreds
of workshops, many corporate functions and festivals and grew the
co-op to its current size of 12 full members and many many associates
and guests.
Currently The Improv Guild are the hosts of the Calgary
Improv Festival and present improv demonstrations every Friday night
in their studio, 2504 Macleod Trail South at 8 pm. Workshops are run every Monday
at 7 pm in the studio.
The Loose Moose Theatre Company, which was formed
in 1977, has an international reputation for innovation and excellence
in improvisational theatre. Techniques for training and presenting
improvisation which have been created by co-founder and former Artistic
Director Keith Johnstone, and developed at Loose Moose are currently
used worldwide. The Loose Moose also acts as a training centre for
individuals interested in improvisational theatre, and we are very
proud of our many alumni that are now working in the areas of film,
television, and stage.
The Kinkonauts were sprung from the loins of two Calgarian
improv duos: Rock Awesome (comprised of Lauren Cochrane and Mandy
Sellers) and The Patriarchy (comprised of Owen Chan and Jason Lewis)
in early 2007. The Kinkonauts got their start performing in competitions
hosted by the Curiously Canadian Improv Guild and moved on to hosting
their own shows in early 2007.

Outside Joke is a six-piece improv group hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba. They perform their own long form style of what they have self-dubbed the “improvised anti-musical”, weaving stories using words and ideas from the audience, and creating songs from those digested suggestions that pull characters and storylines together.
Vancouver TheatreSports® League began in 1980 and
is now a local institution and a worldwide phenomenon, producing
