Colin Mochrie

Colin Mochrie has been a mainstay of the Boardwalk Calgary Improv Festival since he made his first appearance in 2010. It was the first time he’d set foot on a Calgary stage in over 20 years! Know best for his work on Whose Line is it Anyway?, Colin has been delighting audiences with his charm, wit and humble attitude towards comedy for decades. He first started improvising with the Vancouver Theatresports ™ League.
He later trained at The Second City in Toronto and has since performed on almost every major comedy stage in North America. He has described his time at the Boardwalk Calgary Improv Festival as some of the most joyful shows he has ever performed. Get your tickets soon to see this Canadian comedic treasure. Bassprov
Group, Chicago
Bassprov, featuring legendary improvisers and teachers Joe Bill and Mark Sutton, is a two-person longform improvisational comedy show comprised of two Characters: Donny Weaver (Sutton) and Earl Hinkle (Bill). On occasion , the duo are accompanied by a special guest performer playing either a Character from (fictitious) Manmore County or a "Cousin"
Donny and Earl (and their guest), sit in a 'boat' on stage, are fishing, drinking beer, and improvising stories based on several audience suggestions. They set up the audience with "good old boy" characters and then blow them away with intelligent debate, and often poignant insight into life in modern times.
Currently based out of Chicago, Bassprov has been performed in Theaters and Festivals all over the US and Canada.

Patti Stiles
Independent, Melbourne
Patti Stiles’ personal motto says it all: “Inspire!” Informed by a deep, intelligent and perceptive understanding of her subject, Patti leads and teaches from the heart. In demand worldwide as an improvisation performer and teacher, she ignites a spark of enthusiasm and joy in students, fellow performers and audiences wherever she appears.
Patti is an actor, improviser, director, instructor and playwright who has been working professionally in theatre since 1983. She served her theatre apprenticeship at the Loose Moose Theatre with Keith Johnstone. Since then, she has travelled the world performing and teaching improvisation. She currently resides and performs in Melbourne, Australia. She has directed Woman in Improv every year at the festival and we are thrilled to have her back.

SAK

SAK Comedy Lab has been performing and teaching improv for over 30 years. Their performers come from a wide range of professional performance experience and their alumni have gone on to Hollywood, Broadway, Las Vegas and the Supreme Court. (Just kidding about Las Vegas). SAK has been helping people participate in the joy of improv longer and better than anyone in the southeastern United States. Friend of the Improv Guild and SAK member Chase Padgett (6 Guitars) will be the musical director of the 2013 Boardwalk Calgary Improv Festival!

Improv Guild

The Improv Guild was formed in the summer of 2003. Four improv artists created an actor’s co-operative whose mission was to create theatrical works using improvisation as both a performance and rehearsal tool. Their goal is to make Calgary, Alberta the hub of improvisational theatre, where improv actors can practice their art and grow the art form through co-operative projects with local and international companies and artists. Sometime, they remove their pants onstage.
This year we are proud to celebrate our tenth anniversary of our company. It’s been a funny, funny decade! Since 2008 the Improv guild has hosted the Boardwalk Calgary Improv Festival and watched with joy as the event gets better each and every year. Thanks Calgary for making the event such a success!
